Dear Alumni, Dancers, Parents and fans,
Dear Alumni, Dancers, Parents, and Fans: Over ten years ago, our former Coach Lindsey went through a life-changing procedure: she was faced with the possibility of never walking again. Through hard work; mental toughness; and commitment to her treatment, she walked onto the state floor just four weeks after her procedure. This experience gave the Lake Washington Dance Team (LWDT) a deep appreciation for physical therapy. As the program grew and Coach Lindsey healed, the team began researching different organizations that supported their passions of dancing, coaching, and physical therapy. This is how the LWDT was introduced to the Andrea Rizzo Foundation. The Andrea Rizzo Foundation raises money to provide dance movement therapy to children with cancer and disabilities. The foundation provides grants that fund the dance/movement therapy programs named Drea's Dream. The person the foundation was created in memory of, Andrea Rizzo, was quoted saying "I want to give back some of what I have been fortunate enough to receive." The team knew it was their time to give back! With the help of Susan Rizzo, the founder, LWDT developed a fundraiser that included dance teams across Washington in hopes of opening a dance movement therapy center here in Washington. The fundraising leads up to a big celebration: Friday Night Lights! Washington dance teams come together to perform and celebrate the foundation with food trucks, games, and more! All proceeds go directly to Drea's Dream. The Lake Washington Dance Team and its coaches see the difference dance can make in someone's life, and it is our hope you will help us continue to support an organization that has touched each of our hearts. Please consider donating or attending our annual Friday Night Lights event. Please click here for more information or to donate! Sincerely, The Lake Washington Dance Team Coaches |
